Skin Deep

Skin Soak

Relax after a long day by pampering your soul and your skin in your own personalized aromatherapy bath. Mix 3 cups Epsom salt, 1-tablespoon glycerin, a few drops of food coloring (your choice for a bit of color, but not necessary) and perfume or essential oils, such as clove, lavender or peppermint, together in a glass or metal bowl. Add 1/2 to 3/4 cup of the mixture to a hot bath; store remainder in an apothecary jar with a latch to use in the future.

Chapped Skin

Add a small amount of pure glycerin to rosewater. Apply this solution to your chapped face, hands and lips, and pat dry.

Dry, Flaky Skin

Apply undiluted sweet oil to the skin to soften instantly. For extra moisturizing, apply to hands and feet at night and cover with cotton gloves or socks while you sleep.

Makeup Removal

Baby oil or petroleum jelly have long been used for makeup removal, but sweet oil on a cotton ball works just as well -- some say, even better.
