Vegetable Glycerin – The Miracle Worker in Skin and Hair Care

Vegetable glycerin serves as one of the most versatile cosmetic products in the world. Unfortunately, not enough people know about its amazing properties for skin and hair! For starters, it is a humectant, meaning it draws in water from outside of the skin. It is also non-comedogenic, which means it won’t clog up your pores and is totally safe for oily and acne prone skin. Glycerin is also an emollient, meaning it holds in moisture by forming a protective layer over the skin or scalp. If that weren’t enough, glycerin’s skin-smoothing properties also make it an amazing anti-aging and oil-control remedy! More incredible benefits of glycerin include:

1. Improves the Appearance of Skin

Glycerin has intense moisturizing properties, and when applied to skin, can help to improve its appearance.

2. Increases the Length of Hair

Yes, glycerin can actually make your hair grow longer, faster! Glycerin helps hair grow up to 1 inch per month, which is the maximum healthy growth rate for hair. Simply mix equal parts of water and glycerin together until you have enough to run through your hair. After washing and conditioning your hair normally, apply the glycerin to you damp hair, using your fingers to work it in. Let it sit for up to 5 minutes, and repeat up to 3 times a week.

3. Moisturizes Scalp

Glycerin’s moisturizing properties work well on the scalp to help prevent dry scalp Make your own dry scalp moisturizer at home by mixing 10ml of glycerin with 90ml with water or leave in conditioner. If you use a water base, add 1 drop of sunflower oil to the mixture. When using leave-in conditioner, try to avoid leave-in conditioner with a high oil content. Once the glycerin and base of choice are mixed, shampoo and condition hair normally before applying the moisturizer

To apply, part your hair and apply the treatment directly on the scalp. Apply up to 3 times a week.

4. Reduces Fine Lines and Wrinkles around Eyes

Glycerin restores and holds in skin’s moisture, which improves its elasticity while also plumping out lines and creases. Apply around the eyes, being careful to avoid contact within eyes.

5. Gives Hair a Natural Shine

Everyone loves healthy-looking hair! Create that shiny salon look at home using 1 teaspoon glycerin, 1 tablespoon castor oil, and 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar.

  2. Scrub off the dead skin with a loofah or rag.
  3. Apply glycerin to the heels and massage gently for a few minutes.
