Castor oil is gaining popularity today for its ability to magically make eyelashes longer, eyebrows fuller, and hair thicker. However, castor oil is not only a cosmetic genie that makes all our beauty dreams come true (although it is); it also has numerous health benefits when taken internally. Castor oil’s uses are nearly limitless, and I will explore exactly how we can incorporate this wonderful product into your life for all of its incredible uses.

1. Thickens and Lengthens Eyelashes

Who doesn’t want longer eyelashes? The solution is simple when you have castor oil. Because castor oil is packed with Ricinoleic acid (an Omega-8 fatty acid), it provides incredible nourishment and helps to speed up eyelash growth. Castor oil is a natural substance, so you do not have to worry about the side effects that you may experience with chemically-laden eyelash products. This product works best when applied overnight, and the application process is quite simple:

  1. Clean your face and remove all traces of makeup from around your eyes.
  2. Dip a clean mascara wand or clean eyeliner brush into the castor oil.
  3. Apply the oil to your upper and lower lashline, thoroughly coating each lash. 4.
  4. Leave it on overnight and remove it in the morning. I highly recommend using rosewater to do this, but makeup remover works just fine.

The only way to see results in thickness, length, and quantity of lashes is to use castor oil religiously every night. It can take up to 3-6 months for your eyelashes to completely regrow with their new and improved length and thickness. You can even combine castor oil with sweet almond oil or olive oil in a 1:1 ratio to speed up results.

4. Natural Laxative

Castor oil is widely used as a laxative when taken internally. For constipation, it recommended to take 1-4 tablespoons of castor oil on an empty stomach. For children, the dosage is 1-3 teaspoons. It can also be taken with juice to improve its taste.{1}

5. Thickens Eyebrows

All you have to do to naturally thicken the look of eyebrows is apply a touch a castor oil to them before you sleep!

6. Acne Treatment

Castor oil is a natural antibacterial agent that makes for a great anti-inflammatory treatment. This means that the oil works as a natural, topical treatment for acne. Instead of spending loads of cash on chemical-filled acne treatments that can make acne worse, use castor oil to remedy the breakouts. Simply dab a little bit of castor oil to a cotton ball, and apply directly to the problem areas.

7. Skin Hydrator

Castor oil contains many moisturizing properties for skin. All you have to do is mix ¼ cup of castor oil with ¾ cup of coconut oil, and apply to your body and face. This will hydrate your skin without clogging up your pores.

8. Sunburn Relief

Castor oil’s anti-inflammatory properties allow it to reduce redness from sunburn to help alleviate the pain. Mix castor oil and coconut oil in a 1:1 ratio and apply to the affected area.

9. Lengthens and Thickens Hair

Since castor oil improves blood circulation, applying it directly to the scalp can increase circulation to your hair follicles to speed up hair growth. Castor oil also contains omega-6 fatty acids, which makes hair shiny. All you have to do is warm up castor oil slightly, and massage it into your hair and scalp.

10. Dandruff Reducer

Castor oil also has antifungal and antibacterial properties, giving it the ability to aid in the treatment of dandruff and other scalp infections. To make a homemade dandruff treatment, mix one tablespoon of castor oil with one tablespoon of olive oil. Squeeze half of a lemon, and add it to the mixture. Apply the mixture to the roots of your hair and let it sit for 30 minutes before rinsing with shampoo.

11. Anti-fungal Treatment

Castor oil’s antibacterial properties are helpful for more than just acne. It can also help to relieve toenail fungus, and it is said to get rid of moles, cysts, and skin tags. Just mix the castor oil with a pinch of baking soda, and apply it to the infected area.
